Before you begin
Ground rules
- Answer honestly. The result is only as useful as what you put in.
- Your partner sees the outcome, not your questionnaire. The app shows a clear or incompatible result. Matching topics are shown only if you both request a reveal.
- How your data is handled.
Your answers are compared using Private Set Intersection (PSI) cryptography. During normal operation, your plaintext selections and private keys never leave your browser.
- Blind Relay Server: Encrypted messages pass between your browsers to facilitate comparison. The server never decrypts your selections or matching topics, though it does see the final binary result and standard session metadata.
- Ephemeral Sessions: Nothing is saved to a database. Server session data is held temporarily in memory and automatically dropped when either person ends the session (or one hour expires). Reloading the page clears your local keys and requests server deletion.
- Trust-Based Protocol: The cryptographic math happens directly on your device, keeping your answers hidden from the server during normal operation. However, this is a trust-based tool, not a zero-knowledge proof. It assumes the app’s code hasn’t been maliciously modified and your partner is acting in good faith. Each browser can determine how many dealbreakers were triggered, even though the app only displays a clear or incompatible result. A dishonest partner could manipulate their inputs to infer your answers. (If you suspect your partner would do this, that may itself be a red flag.)
- Reveal is mutual. Colliding topics are shown only if both of you request it.
- Either of you can end it. Ending deletes the session for both people immediately.
